Today, my boss let us out an hour early just because it was Friday & a beautiful day outside. I took the opportunity to travel into Manhattan to go see the building that was used as the exterior shot for Friends. It's at the corner of Bedford and Grove -- a very quaint, picturesque section of Greenwich Village.

Happy Father's Day! To celebrate, I took my dad to dinner at the ESPN Experience in Times Square and then to the Yankees/Mets game at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx. Our seats were the next to last row from the very top. Boy, was it an adventure getting from NJ to The Bronx -- but we did it without getting lost! We left the game in the middle of the 8th inning & it took us over 2 hours to get home. What a day...

For my last day at work in CL, Mary (left) took me & Eleanor out to lunch at the Westside Market Cafe. She also bought me a very yummy cheesecake for dessert! Delish :)

This board shows Uncle Ken's other passion in life: politics. He was always campaigning for some Democratic candidate and he even held positions in his local UAW.
In the center of the board is a hand-written letter from Jim Blanchard in 1999 congratulating Ken on retiring from Chrysler.
The pictures include U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin, close friend Honorable Annette Berry, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer, Wonder Woman and WXYZ-TV's Robbie Timmons.

This board exemplifies all that Uncle Ken loved in life: U of M. He had season tickets to the football games, attended lots of road games (including a ton of bowl games) and other sporting events (basketball, hockey, etc.).
He even sent me to basketball camp conducted by the women's team at U-M the summer between 7th & 8th grade. Thanks to him, I got to play in Crisler arena.
He loved U of M so much that he listed in his will that he wanted the fight song & 'Maize & Blue' played at his funeral, AND to be buried in a U of M casket (which he was). That's a die-hard fan in every sense of the term.

For his 3 days of viewing at the funeral home, the girl cousins got together to make memory boards depicting lots of different aspects of Uncle Kenny's life (and boy did he live a full one!).
These are the two boards that I mostly helped with. (Click on the pictures to see them up close)
The "Kenny" one is pictures taken of Uncle Kenny by himself. The one of him in 2nd grade is so adorable!
The "Rocky" (his nickname) one is pictures of him with family. We incorporated artwork made for him while he was in the nursing home by his great nieces in Texas.

Uncle Kenny lost his battle with lung cancer today. He was diagnosed in January with stage 4 lung cancer and was only given 2 months to live. Since we had a feeding tube put it, he was able to last 4 months, but was in extreme pain and too weak to undergo any significant treatment. Of course I miss him but am glad that he's out of pain & in heaven with his parents and many other loved ones.
This picture was taken a little over 4 years ago at my college graduation from MSU.
